2010 CO-ED SOFTBALL
SUMMER SEASON - WEDNESDAY - PIEDMONT PARK

RIVALRY WEEK - JULY 14, 2010
Four comeback wins. Two walk off wins after being down by one with two outs in the last inning.

High Maintenance v. Fighting Amish
The belt is on the line as the two long time rivals face off for a record 18th time. Fighting Amish have won the last three match-ups (and nine of the last 10), including a win to clinch a playoff spot during the spring season. Fighting Amish hold a 10-7 all-time advantage over High Maintenance.

The game is also between the two longest standing active franchises in CSA. High Maintenance played their first game on July 12, 2001 and Fighting Amish made their introduction on March 18, 2002.

In the best game between the teams since a winner take all match-up on November 13, 2007, High Maintenance reclaimed the belt with a come from behind win with two outs in the bottom of the sixth (and final) inning. A double by Brian Mercedes tied the game and a single by Will Nazarowski that fell between three Amish fielders scored Brian with the game winning run.

Fat-tailed Dwarf Lemurs v. Small-toothed Sportive Lemurs
It's Lemurs v Lemurs again. The yellow shirted showdown is not only for Lemurs supremacy, but also to see who remains unbeaten and in contention for the division title. During the spring season, the Wednesday Lemurs completed an unbeaten regular season with a rout of the Thursday Lemurs.

The Lemurs v Lemurs followed the heart stopping High Maintenance/Fighting Amish game. This time first place was on the line, and this battle did not disappoint either. A 14-14 tie was predicted and at the end of six innings the score was Fat-tailed Dwarf Lemurs 14, Small-toothed Sportive Lemurs 14. One inning would decide it all. In the top of the inning the Dwarf Lemurs had two outs and no one on base when a double was followed by a run scoring single by Stacy Braukman. It looked like that run would hold up as the Sportive Lemurs first two batters in the bottom of the seventh inning were retired on two pitches. Cheryl Watts gave Sportive some life with a two-out line drive single up the middle and Ryan Tingle followed with a double to put the tying and winning runs in scoring position. They tried to walk Vance Murphy to load the bases, but he punched a high outside pitch to rightfield to score Watts and Tingle with the night's second consecutive come from behind one run win.

Arizona Pub v. Lunchbox

Two teams that are quite familiar with each other. They have met seven times since 2007, with Arizona Pub (formerly The Ted Heads) owning a 5-2 advantage. Lunchbox looks to continue their undefeated regular season and join Arizona Pub in the 1000 Run Club (they currently have scored 990 runs).

In a night of come backs, Arizona Pub had one to deliver as well. Facing the first place team, Arizona was looking for their first win of the season. Lunchbox had a shot at a major milestone (1000 runs) and an unbeaten season to protect. Lunchbox also had a 12 game unbeaten streak within their division going. Lunchbox held an 8-5 lead heading into the sixth inning when Arizona Pub rallied. Three runs in the top of the sixth tied it up. Lunchbox was unable to score in the sixth and in the seventh inning Arizona Pub got two long solo home runs to take an 10-8 lead. Lunchbox was unable to score runs 999 and 1000 to come back. Arizona Pub's first win of the summer season was the first loss of the season for Lunchbox.

Priscopotamus v. Nothing inCommon

The teams have never met, but that doesn't mean the game isn't significant. The winner bolsters its chances at an playoff spot, while the losing team is all but eliminated from playoff contention.

Nothing inCommon kept their playoff hopes alive with a come from behind win of their own. After trailing to Priscopotamus 5-3 entering the third inning, they scored four runs in each of the next three innings to take a ten run lead and held on in the last inning to all but eliminated Priscopotamus from playoff contention 15-9.
