WINNING TICKET! Pete Rose Bets On Us stormed through the
semis and finals and captured the CSA Wednesday Summer Softball Championship Two dominating performances by Erik Ciccarone's squad captured the league championship. After advancing to the semi-finals last week15-6 over 6th seed Cypress Communications, Pete Rose Bets on Us avenged a regular season loss by overwhelming 2nd seeded Vandelay Industries 21-8 in a game that lasted only five innings. The semi-final showdown never happened. Pete Rose jumped out to an early lead and was never really threatened. PRB stormed out to a six run first inning. After Vandelay responded with four runs, PRB came right back with three in the second and after two innings, the score was 9-4. The third inning was the moment of truth. After Killebrew Bailey lined into a double play, it looked like Vandelay had grabbed the momentum and would make a game of it. The next batter, Tricia Bennett, hit a rather non-descript bloop single over the third basemen. That single ignited a rally that crushed Vandelay and inspired Pete Rose all the way to a championship. Pete Rose scored nine runs with two outs and sent 12 batters to the plate. By the middle of the third inning, the score was 18-4 and the game was basically over. When the fifth inning ended, Pete Rose had advanced to the finals and continued the Curse of the Two Seed. The championship game matched the cinderella fifth seeded MedCenterDirect against the offensive juggernaut, 3rd seeded Pete Rose Bets on Us.. In the title game, Pete Rose started where they left off in the semis. In the top of the first, MedCenter was unable to score and Pete Rose jumped all over MedCenter in the bottom of the inning. Sending 13 batters to the plate, Pete Rose left the bases loaded when the inning ended, however, they had scored seven runs and built what would be an insurmountable lead. Led by Championship Game Tri-MVP's, captain Erik Ciccarone, Jim Lamorte, and Rachel Lawton (the 3,4, and 5 batters), PRB extended the lead to 10-0 at the end of two innings and 11-2 entering the fourth. In the fourth inning, Pete Rose Bets On Us cashed the ticket. After allowing one run in the top of the fourth, PRB needed seven runs to seal the championship. PRB decided to make that betting slip an asset right away. Ciccarone led off the inning with a single and Lamorte followed with a double. With second and third, Lawton grounded out and both Ciccarone and Lamorte were able to score. PRB was able to score three more runs while recording the second out. Then, with Lynn Steele on second and Brantley Edwards on first, Joe Della Vecchia ended the season. A sharp single scored Steele, and Edwards never stopped running. Brantley scored all the way from first base and PRB had mercied MedCenterDirect 18-3. PETE ROSE BETS ON US
