Legion of Doom wins the case.
In an extremely even matched battle, Legion of Doom stayed unbeaten by knocking off
Mourning Wood 14-12. The game was highlighted? by a frantic final minute that had two
touchdowns scored, one player ejection, thirty yards in penalties, and a missed two point
conversion to tie the game.
The first half ended with Mourning Wood leading 6-0. MW got the touchdown when QB Killebrew Bailey threw a pass high in the endzone and Jen Conrad went up and snagged it for a 5 yard touchdown reception. The conversion failed when Bailey fell down on the attempt.
In the second half, Legion responded. They opened the half with a mind boggling 13 minute touchdown drive. Unlike Mourning Wood, Legion was able to convert the extra point and take a one point lead.
Trailing by one, MW was able to move the ball up the field, but on a closed play, the LOD defense tightened and they got what appeared to be a game ending interception.
With only a minute remaining, and Mourning Wood out of time-outs, the game appeared over, but then things got very interesting?. LOD QB Warren Borders hit Jeff Wood for a forty yard touchdown pass. During the ensuing celebration Wood was assessed two personal fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct, even though it was a very funny worm. Wood was automatically ejected and then LOD had a critical extra point attempt.
LOD was successful on the one point conversion attempt to give them a 14-6 lead.
Mourning Wood got the ball back at the 40 yard line with 42 seconds remaining. MW marched right down the field in 4 plays, and Bailey was able to find Eric Ford for a touchdown with 17 seconds left.
MW went for 2 points and the tie. On the attempt, the MW receiver was unable to hold on in the endzone and Legion of Doom escaped with a 14-12 victory and the CSA Case of Beer.

The winner of the CSA C.O.B game receives a case of beer. Periodically, CSA will choose a particularly compelling match-up and raise the stakes a little bit.
