2003 SUMMER LEAGUE TEAM KATHY v TEAM LELAND The first CSA co-ed softball all-star game was held on Wednesday, August 13 at Frankie Allen park. In the midst of one of the closest and competitive seasons in CSA history, the league took a break to hold an exhibition to showcase the spirit of the CSA Frankie Allen leagues. The teams were randomly drawn based on the standings after the games of August 6th. The 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th and 10th place teams were grouped on one team, and the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 8th, and 9th place teams were grouped on the other team. The team captains were the league umpires, Kathy Reisner and Leland Dombrowsky. It would be Leland's team versus Kathy's team. Kathy won the coin flip and got team 1, and Leland got team two. (See below for the starting line-ups). The game started out as a balanced match-up. Team Kathy put one run on the board in the top of the first, and held Team Leland off the board in the bottom of the first, stopping them three up, three down. In the second, Team Leland returned the favor by holding TK off the board and stranding two runners. In the bottom of the second, TL scored one run and tied the game up. In the third, TK broke out. They scored three runs, capped by a two run home run by clean-up hitter, Kerry Senna. In the bottom of the inning, Brian Blackburn led off with a triple, and Mike Muzik drove him in to make the score 4-2. In the fourth, TL opened the door for a comeback. A scoreless inning for Blackburn (who came in for starting pitcher Muzik) gave Team Leland a chance to take the lead. All-Star game MVP, Traci Davis tripled to lead off the bottom of the fourth, and was driven in on a sacrifice by Leland Dombrowsky. The run made the score 4-3 entering the final inning. In the final inning, Team Kathy opened up the game and took an insurmountable lead. A four run fifth put the game out of reach. The inning was highlighted by a two run home run by All-Star game MVP, Gregory Calley. Team Leland got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn't enough. Michelle Sharp got the win for Team Kathy by holding on to the three run advantage and defeating Mike Muzik and Team Leland, 8-5.
