(Fall 2002) with a dramatic last minute victory, 20-14. In a one day war of attrition, the finals pitted two former champions against each other. Snap This!, the Fall 2002 champs faced Eww...There's Jizzo In..., the Winter 2002 and Summer 2002 (as WPOA) champions. To get to the finals both teams had to defeat former CSA champions. In the semis Jizzo faced Legion of Doom and jumped out to a 20-0 halftime lead. Although LOD made a second half comeback, it wasn't enough and Jizzo advanced to the finals 20-12. Snap This! faced the defending champions, We'll Hump Again. Trailing 14-13, Snap scored a touchdown with a minute and a half to go in the game and moved on to the finals 21-14. But even getting to the semis was tough for Snap This!. In their opening game they faced Billy Otis, and Billy Otis has cemented their status as "The Dramatic Ones" because of how many close games they have played. With 35 seconds left in the game, Otis trailed 19-13 to Snap. They scored the tying touchdown, but failed to take the lead on the conversion attempt. With the game tied, Snap marched down the field and had the ball at the Otis 15 yard line with three seconds remaining. With one last play before a possible overtime, Snap QB, Sean Ferreira zipped a pass to Rob Wilson at the three and Wilson slipped through two defenders into the end zone for the game winning touchdown. The championship game was as even as the match-up indicated. The top seeded Jizzo against the third seeded Snap This!. It also had the second and third rated teams in CSA's just released co-ed power rankings (Snap 97.42, Jizzo 96.01) click here. The intrigue was furthered by the fact that Snap This! handed Jizzo its only regular season loss. The game started with both teams showing the effects of playing two games. They traded possessions early. After Jizzo failed to convert on fourth and 15 from the Snap 35, Snap quickly turned the ball back to Jizzo on an interception by championship game co-MVP Jack Rizzo. With the ball back, the offense was able to convert this time. QB, Greg Bowers got Jizzo in goal to go and found championship game co-MVP Tracy Phelps alone on the sideline just short of the goal line. Phelps took it in uncontested and gave Jizzo the lead. On the extra point, Bowers found Rizzo just over the goal line for the one point conversion. At the half way point of the first stanza, Jizzo led 7-0. Snap didn't quit. Coming out on their first drive after the TD, they ran a vintage Snap This! drive that moved the ball down to the Jizzo three yard line. Along the way they mixed quick passes to their girls with timely runs by Ferreira. With under two minutes left in the half Ferreira found Kristin Tench on a quick pass for a three yard touchdown. The conversion failed and with 1:45 left in the half the score was 7-6. Jizzo got the ball back and quickly moved down the field. They got to the Snap 25 yard line with ten seconds left in the half. With one or possibly two plays left, Bowers found Jeff Giesler on a seam route and Jizzo extended the lead to 13-6. When Bowers hit Phelps for the one point try, Jizzo went to the half up 14-6. Coming out for the second half, Snap This! had possession of the ball and they took advantage. With another time consuming drive, they marched down the field and Ferreira found Rob Wilson in the end zone for a 13 yard touchdown that drew Snap within two points. On the two point conversion attempt, Ferreira found John Lingor wide open in the end zone and the game was tied at 14 with 11 minutes remaining. After the teams exchanged drives that stalled, Jizzo got the ball back with a little over two minutes remaining. Bowers marched them down the field, eating up yards and time. When they got to the eight yard line on fourth and goal, the game would come down to one crucial play. Bowers found the biggest target on the field, Jeff Giesler, in the end zone on a slant route for the go ahead touchdown with just 44 seconds remaining. Jizzo had recaptured a six point lead. The conversion attempt would be critical. Snap caught a break when the attempt fell incomplete and Snap This! would have 44 seconds to pull off another miracle comeback. On the third play of the drive, Jack Rizzo intercepted a deflected pass and sealed the championship for Jizzo and made the franchise (WPOA/Jizzo) the first two time recipient of "The Drunken Boot"
