2002 CSA AWARDS
GAME OF THE YEAR
MARCH 4, 2002
BETTER THAN DALLAS v.
HIGH MAINTENANCE
The Game of the Year award is
just that. CSA will choose one game from the over 1,500 played during 2002 and give it's
participants special recognition. Although many games are exciting and dramatic, their are
always a select few that those who competed in it, officiated it, and were in attendance
for, remember.
FINALISTS
Better Than Dallas 14 - High
Maintenance 13
Co-ed Flag Football - March 4, 2002
The Monday Co-ed Flag Football championship comes down to the very end. Facing
fourth down from their own seven yard line, BTD hits a 55 yard pass to set up the
championship winning touchdown with just thirty seconds remaining in the game. Better Than
Dallas becomes the first team to go winless in the regular season and then win a CSA
championship.
Independent Strippers Union
(ISU) 19 - Screwballs 18
Co-ed Softball - August 29, 2002
The Summer Thursday Dresden championship game set a record for the longest game in
CSA by time, 1 hour and 45 minutes, most innings played (8), and most runs scored in a
co-ed championship (37). ISU had a 12 run third inning rally, and then needed one run in
the bottom of the seventh to keep the game going and two runs in the bottom of the eighth
to win it.
Renegades 25 - Wide Right 19
Men's Flag Football - October 24, 2002
One of the best rivalries in CSA, this was the fourth meeting of the teams. The
Renegades trailed 19-13 with just under two minutes left. After scoring the tying
touchdown, the conversion attempt to take the lead failed and the game looked like it
would end in a tie. Wide Right got the ball, but was unable to move it. After Wide Right
failed to convert on fourth down, the Renegades got the ball with only nine seconds left
at the Wide Right 35 yard line. The Renegades sent a hail mary to the end zone, and after
it was tipped at the goal line, a Renegades receiver was able to pull the ball in and keep
his feet in bounds at the back of the end zone for the miracle win.
Peaked In High School 19 -
It's All About the Beer 18
Co-ed Softball - November 17, 2002
Peaked in High School holds off a furious comeback from It's All About the Beer to
win their fourth straight co-ed softball championship. After trailing 16-8 after three
innings, It's All About the Beer chipped away at the lead and with two outs in the bottom
of the sixth it was 18-18 and Peaked had runners on first and second. They managed to
score one run to take the lead and held IAAB off the board in the seventh to seal the win

Unsafe At Any Speed 14 -
Going Deep 13
Co-ed Flag Football - June 29, 2002

deficit to pull out the win in the Saturday Spring league championship game.
W.P.O.A. 13 - Billy Otis 12
Co-ed Flag Football - August 17, 2002
Billy Otis comes within one minute of pulling off the biggest upset in CSA flag
football playoff history. With key players missing Billy Otis held a 12-7 lead with just
over a minute remaining. A 30 yard touchdown pass for W.P.O.A. gave them the lead and
propelled them to the Saturday league championship.

Spotted Dicks 14 - Last Call 13
Co-ed Softball - September 5, 2002

Spotted needed seven runs in the bottom of the seventh to make their comeback
PT BP2/ISU 29 - Termnet
Terminators 28
Co-ed Softball - September 23, 2002
A Little Fenway shootout goes only four innings, but smashes the co-ed record for
combined runs in a game (57). Termnet trailed 26-10 entering the top of the fourth (and
last) inning. They rallied for 18 runs to take a 28-26 lead, but PT BP2 responded with
three runs of their own to win the game. The total runs broke the old mark of 50, set
exactly one year before on 9/23/01.
Galyan's 35 - American Golf
34
Men's Softball - September 29, 2002
In an open round playoff game, Galyan's and American Golf set the CSA record for
total runs (points) in any game with 69. The game set records for runs, runs scored in a
loss, and bested the previous total for runs in any softball game by 12, and in any men's
softball game by 17.
Desperados 26 - CCRT Ballers
24
Co-ed Softball - October 2, 2002
The Desperados capture their first CSA championship with a victory over CCRT
Ballers in a classic shootout. The 50 total runs broke the championship game record set on
August 29. In typical Little Fenway fashion, the offense was produced by an obscene number
of home runs by each team.
